Pause, Disconnect, and Stay in Control

Where your money lives with Puthouse, what the platform can and cannot do, and how to pause automation or disconnect from Alpaca anytime.

Automation should feel optional. It should not feel like you handed someone the keys forever.

If you are considering Puthouse, a fair question is: what happens to my money, and can I stop? This post answers that in calm, direct language.

Your funds stay at Alpaca

Puthouse connects to your brokerage account. It does not hold your cash or shares.

Alpaca is the broker that holds your funds and processes orders. Puthouse sends trade instructions through an encrypted API connection for the strategies you enable.

In short:

  • We never hold your money.
  • We can send trade instructions.
  • We cannot withdraw or transfer your cash.

You keep visibility into your brokerage account, and you can disconnect anytime.

Pause when you want quiet

Life gets busy. Markets get loud. Sometimes you simply want fewer moving parts.

You can pause automation with one click. While paused:

  • no new automated trades execute
  • existing positions stay as they are
  • you can resume when you are ready

Pause is a soft brake. It is there so “stop new activity” does not require a dramatic teardown.

Disconnect when you want out of the connection

Disconnecting is available from your settings.

When you disconnect:

  • your brokerage account stays unchanged
  • your positions stay as they are on the broker side
  • you simply stop receiving automated trades from Puthouse

Nothing magical happens to your Alpaca account. You are turning off the automation layer.

You can still trade manually

Automation does not have to be all-or-nothing.

Puthouse can work alongside your manual trading. Use Alpaca normally for activity outside what you have assigned to the system. That flexibility matters if you want Puthouse for covered calls and cash-secured puts, while you handle other ideas yourself.

Subscriptions are cancelable

If you are on a paid plan, you can cancel from account settings anytime. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. You keep access until the end of your billing period.

Paper trading on the Free plan remains available without a credit card if you want to keep learning without live capital.

Control pairs well with understanding

Stopping is easier when you also understand what the system is doing while it is on.

Helpful companions to this post:

Trust is not a slogan. It is knowing where your assets live, what a product can do, and how to turn the automation off.

Risk disclosure: Options trading involves substantial risk and is not suitable for all investors. Brokerage services are provided by Alpaca. Puthouse does not hold customer funds. Pausing or disconnecting does not close existing positions by itself; manage open risk as needed. Automation does not eliminate market risk.
